Up for sale is a rare & very well maintained 1978 Fender Telecaster with Black on Black finish + Rosewood Fretboard. This Telecaster has some serious vintage tone, stealthy style, and all-original mojo—this is a 1978 Fender Telecaster that stands out from the typical late-‘70s crowd.

✅ All black finish + black pickguard
✅ Rare factory rosewood fretboard (most were maple in this era)
✅ No Live Gigging, No Abuse or Damage
✅ Original Fender hardshell case included

This particular Fender Telecaster is in overall EXCELLENT CONDITION. Very clean overall and very well-maintained for being almost 50 years old. Some surface smudges, scratches, minor dings from normal playing over the decades. Some slight oxidation and vintage patina forming on the metal hardware from natural aging. Some wear, marks, scratches on pickguard from playing with a pick and fingers. The fretboard has been recently oiled (DUNLOP LEMON OIL) and now plays excellent and super smooth. NO HEADSTOCK CRACK.

This Telecaster is built like an ABSOLUTE TANK. Feels super sturdy and firm when you pick it up and hold it in your hands. Telecasters are known for their extreme durability in any type of setting and scenario... You could literally drop this guitar on a hard stage (why would you tho?) and this guitar will still play perfectly fine.. The Ash Body paired with the maple neck/rosewood fretboard combination gives it a very distinct look that separates itself from majority of the 70's Telecasters with Maple fretboards.

🧨 Why This Tele Stands Out:

  • The black-on-black aesthetic gives it a clean, aggressive look—think punk, post-punk, new wave era with a hint of 70's vintage flair.
  • The rosewood board was very uncommon in ‘78—most shipped with maple necks, making this a highly collectible Telecaster (if you're into collecting)
  • Controls are responsive and solid—everything works like it should (Bridge / Neck / Middle Selectors)
  • Fender 70's style “F” stamped tuners, original electronics, chrome hardware

VERY COMFORTABLE neck profile. I would say on the slimmer side similar to most guitars Fender released during the mid to late 70's. Very easy neck for SOLOING up and down the fretboard. Think Hotel California with Joe Walsh or Cliffs of Dover with Eric Johnson. Standard cowboy chording feels very good on your hands as well. Those with standard to medium size hands will enjoy this guitar alot. Those with larger hands will find this guitar very easy to play as a whole.

Overall, this is a very high quality Fender Telecaster from the later half of the 1970's. The physical construction of the instrument is excellent and the tone sounds even better when plugged in. If you're looking for a clean, late-‘70s BLACK/BLACK Tele that looks sick, sounds incredible, and offers something rarer than the typical maple-board sunburst builds—this is it.

Whether you're a player looking for a reliable vintage tone machine, or a collector who values originality and aesthetics, this Tele delivers the goods across the board.
