Up for sale is a very rare and very clean 1969 Gibson ES-340TDW in its original Dark Walnut finish. 

This particular Gibson ES-340TDW is in overall EXCELLENT CONDITION. Super clean and very well-maintained for the past 55+ years of its guitar age. Some minor signs of surface scratches and marks on the finish of the body. Some scratches on front/back/sides of guitar from normal home playing. Some light dings and dust on headstock area from age. The Walnut wood has opened up very nicely over the years on the body of the guitar with nice checking. Binding of the guitar has aged very beautifully and naturally to a darker yellow and beige colored hue. NO HEADSTOCK CRACK.

Aesthetically - this Gibson instrument just looks exceptional in person with its Walnut bodied wood. In my opinion, the natural wood colors look the best (natural blonde, natural walnut, natural maple, etc). The guitar looks very classy and elegant when you place in on a stand in your living room... especially if your living room is bright with lots of lights. The ES models are usually most popular in their Cherry or Sunburst finishes... but these natural wood tones such as Walnut gives it a completely different vibe overall.

The main difference between the standard ES-335 model to this ES-340 model is the wiring configuration... they are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

The ES-340's have a VERY UNIQUE and interesting "PHASER/BLENDER" knob on 1 of the TONE knobs. It blends both of the tones from both bridge/neck pickup into different sounds/modes depending on whether you start from 1 to 10. This is a very powerful feature of this guitar because you can get WAY MORE unique tone combinations than a standard ES-335 model. You can also use the neck pickup selector and turn your volume knob down on the pickups to act like a kill-switch if you flip the toggle switch up and down. There's just so many different sounds you can get on this guitar if you test them out.

THIS GUITAR HAS GOTTEN A FULL PROFESSIONAL RE-FRET TO MEDIUM JUMBOS. Extremely easy to play now with decades of life left. Bending the strings comes with ease and chord gripping is much more balanced through the neck (compared to shorter vintage style frets). It's a nice mix of modern thicker/larger frets and the classic vintage specs on this ES-340TDW. ORIGINAL GIBSON FRETS INCLUDED IN SALE.

This guitar has also gotten an upgraded nut to match the re-fret leveling. Also comes with an upgraded bridge and set up perfectly to play gigging immediately if wanted. ORIGINAL GIBSON BRIDGE INCLUDED IN SALE.

VERY COMFORTABLE neck overall profile. This is a true vintage late 60's Gibson neck 100%. Very whole neck profile that takes up most of your hand when you grip it. Feels super nice and sturdy. If you got bigger hands... you will absolutely love this neck profile. Feels similar to some older Gibson acoustic guitar necks from the 60's and 70's.

Overall, this is a very high end and very well built Gibson electric guitar. It can make so many different tonal sounds. You can run it stereo. You can flip pickups out of phase. You can blend. You can bend. You can get warm jazz tones or funky, nasal snarl. It’s weird, it’s wonderful, and it’s got that Gibson semi-hollow sustain that sings. Great for serious collectors who want to add a unique and excellent quality semi-hollow in their Gibson collection.
