Up for sale is a very rare 95' Fender Stratocaster American Standard in Burgundy Mist finish with matching headstock.
Fender released these American Standard matching headstock/body Stratocasters during 1995-1996 only. They rotated different finish colors every month... some were Candy Apple Red, Lake Placid Blue, Olympic White, Surf Green, etc. Fender also released maple or rosewood fretboard options with the matching headstocks. However, the Burgundy Mist + Headstock Combo is my favorite combo and the most desirable color-way of them all.
Guitar has been played but structurally still very solid and firm. Some normal scratches, dings, nicks here and there from playing. Some minor paint finish chips on bottom of body + side of headstock that are common with these metallic paint finishes. Has no effect on playability or tone - simply cosmetic that gives it a nice vintage worn look. Small indent on front of body from play - very difficult to see unless looking for it. Some normal wear on front/sides of neck which are very common on maple fretboards. Some dust on bridge area that can be easily cleaned off. Low to almost no fretwear with plenty of life. NO HEADSTOCK CRACK.
Original 90's style Fender tuners. Micro-tilt adjust feature on neck plate for easier/faster setup. 2 string trees on headstock for better intonation and tuning stability. 2 point bridge screws on corner of bridge for easier action adjustment.
Standard truss rod location on top of neck. Standard 5-way selector switch + 3 single coils just like every regular Stratocaster. Factory 22 Medium Jumbo Frets with 25.5" scale length. Unique TBX Tone split control for Mid, Bridge pickups. Great feature to subtly change tones from a grittier/snappier tone to a more mellowed out sound.
Very comfortable 90's style Fender C-shaped neck profile. Neck size is right in the middle.. not too thick and not too skinny. Great feeling neck good for playing standard chords or single note play. Fender's C-Shaped neck is probably the most diverse neck profile out there - fits most hands sizes and for all music genres.
Great sounding pickups. No need to swap for anything else.. unless you really want too. Pair it straight through a quality Fender Tube Amp (Princeton Reverb, Deluxe Reverb) and that's all you really need. These 90's American Standards are one of the best decades for Fender guitars. If you've owned any 90's American Standard Fender... then you know what I mean. Quality control was high and consistent for both build construction + tone ability. This 95' Burgundy Mist Stratocaster is no exception.
Overall, this is your standard 90's Fender USA Stratocaster... but with a rare Burgundy Mist finish + matching headstock that makes you stand out from the crowd. Everyone knows or has a Strat... but not many have a Strat like this. It makes your guitar a little bit different from the rest.

The Fender American Standard Stratocaster is one of the most iconic and sought-after electric guitars in the world. Part of Fender’s American Series, the American Standard Stratocaster is known for its classic design, versatile tone, and excellent craftsmanship. It was produced by Fender from the 1980s until 2016, when it was replaced by the American Professional Series.
Key Features of the Fender American Standard Stratocaster
1. Body
- Material: The body of the American Standard Stratocaster is typically made from alder or ash (depending on the model year). Alder is the most common choice, offering a balanced tone with a strong midrange and clear highs.
- Shape: The Stratocaster’s body is known for its double-cutaway design, which allows easy access to the higher frets and gives the guitar its ergonomic shape. It also has the signature contoured edges, which make it comfortable to play for long periods.
2. Neck
- Material: The neck is made from maple, and the fretboard is usually made from rosewood or maple, depending on the model year and finish. The maple neck provides a bright, snappy tone, while the rosewood fretboard adds warmth and smoothness to the sound.
- Neck Profile: The American Standard Stratocaster typically features a modern C-shaped neck profile, which is comfortable for a wide range of players. This neck profile is neither too thick nor too thin, making it great for both rhythm and lead playing.
- Scale Length: The Stratocaster has a 25.5-inch scale length, which contributes to its bright, sharp tone and clear articulation. The longer scale length also gives the guitar more sustain and helps with tuning stability.
3. Pickups
-
Pickups: The American Standard Stratocaster features three single-coil pickups, which are the heart of the Strat's bright, bell-like tone. These pickups are typically American Standard single-coils, which are known for their clarity, warmth, and punch.
- Neck Pickup: Offers a smooth, rounded tone that’s great for clean sounds and bluesy leads.
- Middle Pickup: Provides a balanced, bell-like tone that works well for rhythm playing and light overdrive.
- Bridge Pickup: Known for its sharp, cutting tone that excels in rock and lead playing.
- Pickup Switching: The Stratocaster uses a 5-way pickup selector switch, which allows players to choose between different pickup combinations for a wide range of tones.
4. Bridge and Tailpiece
- Bridge: The American Standard Stratocaster comes with a two-point synchronized tremolo bridge (also known as a vintage-style tremolo system). This bridge allows for smooth pitch bending and vibrato, making it a favorite for players who use a lot of whammy bar techniques.
- Saddles: The saddles are typically steel or block saddles, which provide a good balance of tone and tuning stability.
5. Hardware
- Tuners: The American Standard Stratocaster features Fender’s standard die-cast tuners, which offer good tuning stability and precision.
- Pickguard: The Stratocaster usually comes with a 3-ply pickguard (white, black, or other colors), which protects the body from pick scratches while adding to the guitar’s classic look.
6. Finish
- The American Standard Stratocaster is available in a variety of classic finishes, including Sunburst, Olympic White, Candy Apple Red, Black, and others. The finish is typically a gloss polyurethane, which is durable and provides a sleek, modern look.
Sound and Tone
The Fender American Standard Stratocaster is renowned for its versatile sound. The combination of single-coil pickups, a maple neck, and a 25.5-inch scale length gives it a bright, clear, and articulate tone with a strong midrange presence.
- Clean Tones: The Stratocaster excels at producing crystal-clear clean tones, especially from the neck and middle pickups. The bright, bell-like sound is perfect for funk, pop, and blues.
- Distorted Tones: The Stratocaster can also handle overdrive and distortion well, particularly with the bridge pickup, which provides a cutting, aggressive tone that works well for rock and lead guitar.
- Versatility: The 5-way pickup selector gives the player a wide range of tonal options, from smooth, mellow tones to sharp, biting leads. The guitar is suitable for a wide range of genres, including rock, blues, funk, pop, and country.
Playability
- Neck: The modern C-shaped neck is comfortable for most players and allows for fast playing, making it suitable for both rhythm and lead work.
- Action: The action on the American Standard Stratocaster is typically low and smooth, allowing for easy fretting and comfortable playing. The 22 frets provide plenty of range for soloing and chord work.
- Tremolo System: The two-point synchronized tremolo bridge allows for smooth and controlled pitch bends, making it ideal for players who use the whammy bar for vibrato and dive bombs.
