Up for sale is a very rare and uncommon Fender Telecaster "52' AVRI" in metallic Copper finish. Fender has not released the exact # of units produced, but a conservative estimate is less than 150 units TOTAL for these 90's 52' AVRI "Coppercasters".
For these 90's Fender 52' AVRI's, Fender released them in 3 finishes - a common standard Butterscotch finish, standard Black finish and a rare Copper finish displayed with this guitar here. The Copper colorway/finish is now discontinued and can only be obtained through Fender's Custom Shop factory.
This "Coppercaster" is in near mint condition with very minimal signs of play. 1 small ding near output jack area. 1 small scruff below the headstock from sitting on a stand. Very difficult to see from pictures. Other than that, this "Coppercaster" is in extremely clean and showroom condition. NO HEADSTOCK CRACK. NO ELECTRONIC ISSUES. WEIGHT = 8.5LB
The 52' AVRI's is an exact reproduction of the original 1952 PRE-CBS Fender Telecasters. This includes a beefier original 50's style neck profile (Medium "C") with a 7.25" fingerboard radius. Those with larger hands will find this neck very comfortable and easy to play up and down the fretboard.
Solid alder body with a maple neck/fretboard. Has some very admirable natural "flames" on both the front and backside of the neck. Very eye-catching to both the player and the observer. Standard black dot inlays with the truss rod located on the bottom side of the neck just like any standard vintage Fender.
Vintage 50's style smaller oval tuners with a circle metal string tree for the top 2 strings. Slotted vintage style screws (rather than modern) for every screw on the guitar (neckplate, bridge, saddle, pickguard, etc).
Standard black pickguard that blends in very nicely with the metallic Copper finish. Traditional vintage style 3-prong saddle system rather than the modern 6 saddle design.
Original stock Fender pickups with standard Telecaster 3 way pickup selector and 2 Master knobs (1 volume/1 tone). Standard brown skunk stripe behind the neck.
The highlight of this guitar (other than the neck) are these pickups. Very nice sounding pickups with the unmistakable classic Tele "twang". Bridge pickup and middle pickups are very solid. However, my favorite is the neck pickup by far. Pair it up with any quality tube amp and you can get a wide variety of quality sounding tones. I've played blues, rock, metal, clean jazz on this guitar. Very versatile and can fit a wide range of any music genre.
Overall, this is just a great example of Fender's reproduction of the 1952 Telecaster. The rare Copper finish gives the guitar a very unique touch to a very mass produced Telecaster guitar. Everyone knows or has a Telecaster in their collection... but a COPPER Telecaster...? Not many...

EXTRA COPPERCASTER FACTS:
The Fender Telecaster Coppercaster is a unique, limited-edition version of the classic Fender Telecaster guitar, known for its distinctive copper finish and custom features. It was introduced as part of a special series of Telecasters, often aimed at collectors and players looking for a more exclusive or visually striking instrument.
Key Features of the Fender Telecaster Coppercaster
1. Body
- Material: Like many Telecasters, the Coppercaster features a solid body. The body is typically made of alder or ash, but the standout feature is the copper finish. The copper plating gives the guitar a unique, shiny, metallic look that stands out compared to standard Telecasters.
- Finish: The copper finish is a key selling point, offering a sleek, reflective surface. It is often paired with a clear lacquer to protect the copper while maintaining its polished appearance.
2. Neck
- Material: The neck of the Coppercaster is usually made of maple, a common choice for Fender guitars, known for its bright tone and durability. The fretboard can be either maple or rosewood, depending on the model.
- Neck Profile: The neck profile is typically modern C-shape, which is a comfortable, medium-thick profile that works well for a wide range of playing styles.
3. Pickups
- The Coppercaster typically features two single-coil pickups, as is characteristic of the Telecaster. These pickups provide the classic Tele tone: bright, cutting, and clear, with plenty of twang and bite, making it ideal for country, rock, blues, and pop music.
- Neck Pickup: Smooth and mellow, great for rhythm playing and clean tones.
- Bridge Pickup: Known for its sharp, bright sound, the bridge pickup is perfect for lead lines and cutting through the mix.
4. Hardware
- Bridge: The Coppercaster retains the traditional Telecaster bridge, which is a string-through-body design. This bridge is simple but effective, contributing to the Telecaster’s distinctive sound and sustain.
- Tuners: The tuners are typically vintage-style or Fender's standard die-cast tuners, providing good tuning stability.
5. Design and Aesthetics
- The copper finish is the standout feature, giving the guitar a unique, eye-catching look. The metallic sheen of the copper contrasts beautifully with the darker wood of the neck and fretboard, making it a visually striking instrument.
- The Coppercaster is often finished with aged or vintage-style hardware, which complements the overall retro look while adding to the instrument’s classic feel.
Sound and Tone
The Fender Telecaster Coppercaster maintains the signature Telecaster tone:
- Bright and Cutting: The bridge pickup provides a sharp, bright tone with lots of clarity, making it perfect for lead guitar and soloing.
- Warm and Smooth: The neck pickup offers a smoother, warmer tone, great for rhythm playing and clean, mellow sounds.
- Versatility: Like other Telecasters, the Coppercaster is known for its versatility. It works well in a variety of genres, including country, rock, blues, and pop.
Why Choose the Fender Telecaster Coppercaster?
- Unique Appearance: The copper finish gives the Coppercaster a distinctive and eye-catching look that sets it apart from other Telecasters.
- Classic Telecaster Tone: The Coppercaster offers the classic Tele tone—bright, sharp, and twangy—while maintaining the Fender sound that is so beloved by musicians.
- Collector's Item: As a limited-edition model, the Coppercaster is often sought after by guitar collectors and enthusiasts who want a unique and rare version of the Telecaster.
- High-Quality Build: Fender’s craftsmanship ensures that the Coppercaster is a high-quality instrument with great playability, sound, and durability.
Conclusion
The Fender Telecaster Coppercaster is a unique and visually striking variant of the classic Telecaster, with its eye-catching copper finish and traditional Tele features. It offers the same versatile, bright sound that the Telecaster is known for, while standing out as a limited-edition, collectible guitar. If you're looking for a Telecaster with a bit of flair and a unique aesthetic, the Coppercaster could be a great choice.
