Up for sale is a 2001 Gibson ES-175D in beautiful Tobacco Burst finish. I've seen many Tobacco Burst finishes in my life.. however, not 1 quite as this.. the Tobacco flames blends very nicely to the Black from the Center to the Edges of the Body.. even though it's almost 20 years of age, it truly does give me the vibe of a 40+ year of Vintage Burst Gibson.

This Gibson ES-175D is in overall excellent condition. Some normal play wear for a 20 year old guitar.. as in some small surface scratches on the front/back/sides.. some pickguard smudges.. Give this ES-175D another 15+ years and the natural relic and wear from play will age very nicely.

Absolutely no cracks, no repairs, no modifications, no issues. This guitar has been played over the years but clearly very well taken care of by an adult ONLY. Never abused, has gotten a professional setup.. the action is low and true.

The ES-175D is arguably one of the most iconic Jazz/Blues guitars ever made in the history of jazz guitar making.

First released in 1949.. many guitar companies have tried to recreate similar style guitars to the ES-175D... but none have successfully tried to recreate it perfectly.

For the Jazz and Blues Enthusiasts... if you are a fan of Wes Montgomery... Joe Pass... BB King.. George Benson.. Herb Ellis.. and others in the same category, then this is the guitar that will accurately match that tonal sound. 

From experience.. when it comes to Pure Jazz Guitars.. only the Gibson ES-175D and the Gibson L-5CES can be considered as the King of Kings..

Some try to compare and contrast the ES-175D and the L5-CES... However to me, they cannot be compared.. because they are 2 completely different Jazz Guitars.. Both are excellent guitars but the build construction theory are completely different.

The ES-175D is a very versatile guitar.. as in not only does it sound excellent for Jazz.. but it can also hold its own for the Blues.. For Light Rock.. For Clean Tones.. with distortion as well.. If I had to compare it to another Gibson in terms of a tone versatility, it would be the ES-335.. rather than an L5-CES.

Another highlight of this ES-175D is the neck profile.. not a thick chunky neck.. not a super slim neck either.. I'd say right in the middle (slightly slimmer than a Modern C). It is a great neck for standard Jazz/Blues playing.. for classic Chord Grips.. and even for Shredding up and down the frets.. The Florentine Cutaway makes playing across the fretboard very easy and fun.

If you are debating between a Norlin-Era ES-175D to a "Newer" ES-175D... Let Me Tell You This...

The Norlin-Era Gibsons are excellent guitars.. however when it comes to quality control, it is a hit or miss.. as in... you might get a "Superb" Gibson and sometimes you may get just a "Good" Gibson..

But for me, if I'm spending over $3000+ for a Pure Jazz guitar.. I am not looking for a simply "Good" Guitar... I am looking for a "Superb" guitar.. The money I spend must be worth the Guitar I buy..

Gibson's quality control from 1990-2010 have been VERY VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT... This cannot be said the same for some of the newer released Gibsons.. which have been questionable..

This ES-175D falls right in the middle at 2001... the Build Quality is EXCELLENT... the Tone Quality is EXCELLENT.. I've had no regrets and no disappointments.
